Green Goodness

You deserve to feel your best. You deserve to eat well. Let's do this together.

I'm Kate Berger and I'm a dietitian who helps those who desire to feel energized and fulfilled in their health. I help those who have every good intention and action to make great lifestyle choices but instead find they feel depleted, burned out, reluctant, or ashamed in their relationship with food. They may be even be someone who readily attends to others’ needs and often forget or deny their own.

I work with individuals, families, caregivers, and health professionals who are ready and open to making a change in their lives to better their health, reach goals that have been put-off, and find a new way forward.

Many feel "A diet is all I need" or "It's not the right time - I'll wait for the wedding.. the New Year..  the summer.. the next phase of life.."

They've experienced:

failed diets,

routine medical visits that result in more medications,

drastic lifestyle changes,

new mental health challenges,

medical diagnoses with overwhelming and conflicting nutrition prescriptions

disordered eating as a result of over information and pressure from society.

They feel selfish, guilty that they "should" be doing something different or not worthy of great nutrition self-care.

Sound familiar?

YOU MATTER. Let's create a NEW understanding of food and target what food can do for YOU!

About Kate

I'm Kate and I'm a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN for short).

I help people change their habits which is so amazing. I'm absolutely honored to do this work!

You're reading this right now because you're looking for someone to give you help you haven't gotten yet! And I get it- This is a big moment and commitment for some who are searching for answers.

The world of nutrition is not an easy one to navigate. It's confusing and contradictory.

And I can understand reservations to divulge details about eating habits and talk about a difficult subject like weight. You're certainly in good company because I have my own history. You won't be getting any shame or judgement from me.

I work with many different people- some that have medical and health concerns needing specific dietary guidance, while others, like families may struggle with their little ones at the table. And often, many of us just desire to make nutrition or health a priority. Does that sound like you?

My food philosophy

Our food & diet decision are complex and are very personal but there is no such thing as "one diet fits all". My approach to nutrition is individualized, and catered to your unique needs and your family's too. I aim to meet you where you're at so we can set realistic goals. Fad and quick fix diets don't work and they never will.

This nutrition approach uses an all foods fit process avoiding diet plans, rules, and frustrations over food. Being that all foods fit here, you don't need to give up your favorite foods in order to live well and have good health.

I am here to empower you with support, insight and specific guidance so that together we find your style of nourishment that works best for YOU and YOUR body.

We are so lucky to have so much health information at our disposal, but it can just as easily get diluted, confusing, sometimes unrealistic and even contradictory which I think is frustrating for anyone looking for answers. It's my job to translate nutrition research and health guidelines in a way that makes sense.

My education

I originally began learning about nutrition in the university- earning my Bachelor's degree from Cal Poly Pomona in dietetics followed by internship to earn certification as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. I have since practiced under many specialties including weight management, wellness, prenatal health, pediatric and family dynamics as well as picky eating with both medical nutrition therapy training and outpatient counseling experience.

A little more about me...

During my undergraduate, I was inspired to become a health expert and pursue certification in personal training through the NSCA. Even though I no longer practice fitness instruction or teach boot camp, my other passion in life is anything that allows me to move- dance, yoga and my first love which is weight training!

I am originally from sunny San Diego, California and now reside in San Jose with my husband, Jason, our little guy, Nathan & new addition baby Zachary.

We should work together if:

What Clients Are Saying

Kate is an incredible dietitian to work with. She helped guide me through some very difficult family food dynamics with the utmost compassion. She is also incredibly body positive. As someone who had a lot of self esteem issues growing up this is an incredibly important characteristic in a dietitian. If you are looking for someone who will give you tools to change your relationship with food she is the person to go to.Her recipes are amazing and delicious. They are kid and picky eater approved. I am a mother of 3 kids with their own particular tastes which can make mealtimes and grocery shopping difficult. Kate gently guided me on how to change my approach and helped solve a very sensitive issue with one of my children.
